Money Monster Review
George Clooney as well as Julia Roberts, directly there's a dream cast. Throw inward Jodie Foster every bit manager as well as a story that hit's home. What could larn wrong?H5N1 Financial TV host Lee Gates (Clooney) as well as his producer Patty (Roberts) are spot inward an extreme province of affairs when an irate investor (Jack O' Connell) takes over their studio, threatening to blow Gates into a 1 one k thousand pieces, later on losing all his coin later on hedging all his bets on Gate's fiscal advice.
Think Phone Booth, inward a TV studio, alongside to a greater extent than clichés. And that's the effect alongside Money Monster. While ultimately, it shows the piddling guy ever gets fucked over, it does it inward a means that never actually lifts inward a higher identify average. No pun intended, but this is a past times the numbers thriller. The story, field adequate all the same clichéd, never actually raises the tension levels that the trailer promised. There are really few moments where you'll endure on the border of your seat. Which is disappointing considering the cast.
Clooney as well as Roberts are both guilty of dialing this 1 in, alongside neither of them actually breaking a sweat, alongside the strange exception hither as well as there. In the "show" bits, where Clooney is prancing around singing as well as rapping, the thespian never looks comfortable.
However, Jack O Connell is rather mesmerizing as well as is utterly convincing. The supporting cast, field underused are nada to write habitation about. Dominic West is forgettable and Caitriona Balfe is forgettable. Foster does meliorate inward the director's chair, keeping things going at a decent pace, which is difficult to gain considering the bulk of this is fix inward a TV studio.
Arguments tin likewise endure made that movies close the fiscal crisis as well as shady dealings are out of appointment at this stage. But, no uncertainty the motion painting volition resonate alongside quite alot of people.
Overall, Money Monster, gripes aside, is corporation enough. And is simply close worth your money. However, don't aspect a provide on your investment.
